I'm Out of Printer Paper!

As I mentioned yesterday I have not had time to doodle in weeks and I can't tell you how deprived I have felt!  .... and, how just a little quick something helps to satisfy the need.

This morning I was sitting at my computer and saw a beautiful tag someone had created using lots of rubber stamps (about $45 worth) and I wanted to remember the "idea" of it.  So, I went to my printer, my first source of paper and I'M OUT!!!  So, I reached behind me and grabbed the first book I could lay my hands on.  My first thought was to just doodle anywhere but then I realized I might actually want to read that particular book sometime so I went to the acknowledgement page.....

The stamped version was much prettier and different but I'm satisfied, I got the "doodle itch" scratched in 10 minutes time.  Draw it with a black Micron pen, color with watercolor pencils then swish some water using a water filled brush.  DONE!  .... well, done enough to suit my needs which was remember the leaves on swills idea and to get pen to paper... :-)

John 6:29... BELIEVE

I have been crazy busy the last couple of weeks and haven't been able to doodle anything so today I decided to do a really quick something on the PC.  Even though it is all PC, it is all MY STUFF.... I created both True Type Fonts (MFH Sticks and Stones ...and MFH Chunky Doodle)  AND I also created the fill inside the "Believe" early last year using the software on a site called "" ... so it really is "all me".  Just not all today.

Here is what I wrote last year about ColourLovers... I created lots of patterns last year but kinda go bored with it and stopped....

MARCH 2011 I wrote (on my other blog)

You know, there is absolutely no reason to buy any digital background anymore!  There is a way to make it yourself, with just a few clicks, somewhere "out there" on the web...there's a place to make plaid (see yesterday), stripes, and today I found THE background site!  OH MERCY!  I have been there for the last EIGHT HOURS!!! It is .   WARNING!  Once you get there you may not be able to leave!

There are almost 17,000 patterns already and you can make your own!  The first three below were there already,  I just chose the colors (the pattern determines what will be the same color) and notice, once you color, you name the pattern/color combination

I created the next pattern myself, and colored it twice. Now that I have created the pattern it is out there for anyone else to color.  It took a while to figure out how to create an original pattern and I THINK you are limited to the little clip art (like the daisy shape) that they provide so it looks kind of "cookie cutter" but this is yet another challenge... how to make a pattern like the ones above ....for another day.

Same thing only different

OR...your third option is to just download any already created and colored pattern on the site!  They are there for the taking, FREE!

Clothes Pins and Barbed Wire

For the past few days I have been working on some "frames" for my friend Patty.  She is the one that lives in a barn...literally!

For the past several months we have been going back and forth on what she wanted and I am THRILLED to say we FINALLY came up with an idea and I AM FINISHED!!!  WHOOHOO!!!

The goal:
1. She wanted it "barn-like"
2. She wanted each person's name on it
3. She wanted a scripture of her choice
4. She wanted Comic Sans
5. She found some barbed wire on her property that she wanted to use.  This one worried me because that was an accident just screaming to happen!  I was not in the mood for a tetanus shot so I figured out a way to make it myself!
6. She wanted to mix up the colors, red/green/blue

So, here ya go!  ... barbed wire/hand stained clothespins/name/scripture canvas board... FIFTEEN of them! (even one for the horse)

The good part is she can change pictures out anytime she wants.

YAY!!!  I LOVE it when a job is done!  I can't wait to see it up on her wall!  I'll share the pictures when I get some.

THE Doodle Starter Book (Page 1)

One of the major fears with starting a "doodle" is that great big white page so I decided to create a "doodle starter page".  All I have to do is fill in the blank with all those great sayings I find on Pinterest, or put Scriptures on a topic, like "Trust", "Love", whatever.  I did another one about a month ago on "Trust" but I can't find it!

Even though its a "fill-in-the-blank" I tend to add more to it, like shadows, more details to the flowers, just whatever comes to mind.  I also go back over all the lines to make them all darker since my printer seems to print them lighter than I like.

I made it to look like grid paper because I LOVE doodling on grid paper.... I buy the grid composition books to play on and to tape the little bits and pieces of doodling I do here at my computer.

I just like that look..... but, now that I see it here I think I'll go back to all the pages I did like this and put "frames" around each glued bit to make it look more planned.

I think I'll keep making different doodle starter pages so that it creates a THE Doodle Starter Book!  This is page one of more :-) Hummmmm....maybe I'll make that a challenge for myself.... a page a week maybe?

You too can have a blank page 1 of "THE Doodle Starter Book" for only $1.50:

I will email the file as soon as I get the email from PayPal. Hopefully within 24 hours...much sooner if possible.

Happy Little Surprise!

Yesterday's doodles were these two.

You can always tell what colors I have hanging out by my PC, they show up in my doodles :-)

The happy surprise was that I had some canvases already painted just hanging around here waiting to have something added.  I'm telling ya, a clean house is not all its cracked up to be!

canvas - Caran d'Ache Neocolor 2
LOVE! LOVE! those crayons

I love it when things work out!

I'm thinking these would be cute if I did sets of families with all the family mat sets color coordinated.  A "We are Family" arrangement.
Do you think that would sell?
I NEEEEED something that will sell!

On another note....

Yesterday I posted an inspirational video of an amazing sure and check it out if you haven't already.  Kathleen left a comment about her daughter being autistic and showing signs of being an artist so I wanted to include this one...

This just blows me away!  To me it shows the potential of the human brain... can you imagine being able to get to all the SMART parts of your brain?!!

This is SO GOOD!

I love this!  I put it here because I know that I'm not the only person that is insecure with what they can do.  My biggest problem is comparing mine with other people's.... I always want "mine to be cute like that!"  But I keep plugging away at it in hopes that one day I'll be satisfied!

Putting a Bunch of Pieces Together.

I know, today's "multi-media doodle" isn't really a "doodle" it is really just a mish-mash of parts I had lying around and decided to put together!... but, that's how my doodles are too, so I think I can call it a "doodle".

The canvas board was one I painted months ago and didn't love, but I knew I would eventually repaint it or do something with it.

The stem was a test.... what would it look like if I sprayed half a black wire white then twisted the two ends together?

Then the leaves were from me playing around with thin wire and washi tape.

The pink felt parts of the flower were leftovers from an order of 500 pins I made early in the year.

The polka dot center is made from one of the little acrylic domes they sell now that have sticky backs.  I stuck that down on the washi tape, cut the circle, then glue the whole thing down on the flower.

DONE!  It actually turned out pretty cute (easier for me to see the original than you can with this scan).

Thankfully the flower can be manipulated to stand out more and not cover up the word "Whoever".... it got smashed flat on the scanner.
